Android 5.0 lollipop comes on Samsung Galaxy S4 mini and S5 mini

In the last years we’ve been dealing with different versions of Android KitKat, but the wait is over, the new Android Lollipop 5.0 was released by Google at the end of 2014. This has caused a great interest for the new OS and every owner of a decent Android based smartphone was naturally wondering if the new OS will eventually land on his device. A few months back some reliable sources stated that Samsung’s Galaxy S4 and S5 will indeed be getting the Lollipop OS. Meanwhile we heard news that many other Samsung devices will be getting the update, among those we can count the Galaxy Alpha, Galaxy Note 3 and Note 4 and even the Galaxy Note Edge within the first quarter of 2015.

For those on a lower budget, there weren’t any news about the more budget oriented devices such as the Galaxy S4 Mini and the S5 Mini, but there are some voices saying that these device will also receive the Lollipop update. However the exact version is yet to be announced but is likely to be 5.0.1, Samsung skipping 5.0 all together. SamMobile confirms using 5.0.1 on Samsung devices, with the new TocuWiz looking amazing. With complains coming towards Samsung about their own UI about its overall quality, Samsung with the new Material Design will likely shut off all of these complains.

The down side for both S4 Mini and the S5 Mini is that the update will only come to these devices much later, Samsung focusing on updating on their flagships (Galaxy Note Edge is scheduled  to receive the update Mid-February). The update will arrive most likely late March or even April, however the wait is worth it, considering the fact that so far early versions of the 5.0 lollipop are so far buggy and unstable, combining it with the improper testing and adding Samsungs own UI will result in a lot of new problems and this making Samsung owners angry all over the world.

Waiting for a batter version of the new OS, might not be such a bad thing overall, instead of using a buggy and battery draining version of the OS on cheaper devices like the S4 Mini right away. The good thing is that it is coming for sure and all that’s left is a bit of waiting, which might lead to great results.
